Hitting up the liquor store, running on the treadmill for an hour, then taking a bath in the jacuzzi with the jets on while drinking beer and reading this month's Cosmo.

Booze, crash dieting, trashy magazines. All my favorite guilty pleasures.

Wow, I found a list I had made senior year of high school, right before deciding where I was going to go to college, of things I like. I was 17. Some of these are pretty funny. I took myself so damn seriously. A free Tibet, really? Witchcraft? Plagiarism? What was I on? I was clearly the stereotypical lame teenager. Here's the list, with things bolded now that I "like" (or I guess I have an interest in, specifically) and a strikethrough things I actively hate or am annoyed by. I'm cringing at actually listing some of the others. Maybe I'll look back on this in 6 years with the same bafflement.

Bodies of water, new books, cafes, ceiling fans, clean sidewalks, dictionaries, England, eye doctors, Greyhound Buses, islands, Jews, lawyers, New York City, protesting, Nicole kidman, nostalgia, modern art, poetry, romanticism, roses, traveling, Uma Thurman, white noise, witchcraft, women, WS Merwin, gay marriage, bashing Bush, Indian springs, Lifetime, bodegas, Broadway, movies, British spellings, poetry readings, alliteration, new drinks, vintage clothes, thrift stores, mountains, touring cities, museums, Old Europe, socialism, botanical gardens, Feminism, runways, Romance Languages, harmonicas, debating, moral relativism, cathedrals, Catholic Mass, anti-war, Boston, modern art, cabins, waterfalls, Tennessee, good country + folk music, tea, being carefree, plagiarism, sleeping, song + movie titles, foreign films, the Simpsons, the Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, androgyny, alternative lifestyles, lesbian Jews, computers, liberals, libertarians, anarchists, mysticism, tourist towns, New England seaside towns, Ayn Rand, architecture, modern poetry, livejournals, perfect grammar, foreign films, Buddhist monks, jewelry, a free Tibet, surrealism, modern art, British TV, money, hope, lists, Metro, soap operas with a good plot, getting mail, remembering, writing, notebooks, good pens, existentialism, board games, porn, Seinfeld, 1968, horror movies, college interviews, hippies, intellectualism, polished wood.

Did 30 minutes on the treadmill today. Just wasn't really feeling it, and quit early.

But it looks like I won't be able to exercise every day. I'm making an impromptu trip to Boston, to meet with the girls that are renting out the room. It's lucky that they're from the East Coast--they won't rent to anyone before meeting them, understandably, and I'm sure they've been swamped with responses.

So I'm leaving next Wednesday, meeting them, hanging out with Grace, and hopefully seeing an old professor, then swinging back through NYC on Friday and going out with Grace/Adriana and maybe seeing Devin and Cisco.

I've offered to pay 4 months rent in advance. Seriously, if after traveling almost 20 hours AND giving them that much, they don't give it to me, they're either extremely anal or I'm just that off-putting.

I've been drawn to movies from my childhood/early teens for some reason. In the past few weeks, I've watched:

Fear
Grease
Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventure
Home Alone
Karate Kid 3
Housesitter
She's All That

SO. MANY. MEMORIES.

I'm getting SOOOO excited for my move. I've ordered my boxes and bought everything I need to buy. I still need to get my computer fixed, and do a ton of other things.

I've decided to not buy a car until I get a job. That way, I'll be forced to use the (very cheap) public transportation to get everywhere I need to go and will not be hemorrhaging money with (very expensive) gas, car insurance, etc. until I can afford it.

The public transportation is cheap, but not great. So, if I have something important to go to (like an interview), I will schedule it as late as I can, and leave very early.

Even if public transportation turns out to be a pain in the ass, it won't matter, because I'll have all the time in the world to get where I need to go.

I'll be able to walk to run all my errands living with Juan and Will, and I'm definitely going to live in an area that has lots of public transportation and all the necessities within walking distance. I'll use the month of January to familiarize myself with the 3 areas I'd like to live (Los Feliz, Silverlake, or Echo Park) and make sure my apartment is in a convenient area with things to do...I'm leaning towards Los Feliz, as it's the hipper/cheaper equivalent of Silverlake.

I bought a gym membership on eBay already for $170, for a year. That's about $14/month, and I can go to any 24-hour fitness, and there are several within 20 minutes of me.

If I want to see the boy during the day, he'll come pick me up and chauffer me around. If we're all going out at night, I'm sure there'll be a direct enough route from my place to either Juan's or Will's (possibly even using the train). At the end of a long night, I'll either crash at one of their apartment's, go home with Will2, or get a cab from their places if they bring someone back. Even if I get a cab twice a week, it'll be cheaper than car insurance ($150 for me, eep!) and gas.

I'm beyond excited. I can't wait to see Will and Juan.

Haha, on a whim I entered a competition on Slate.com, which I read every day, to "write like Sarah Palin." I never heard anything from them, so I assumed nothing came of it, but they actually chose and published mine! It's not a big deal, but it was a little thrilling to see my name on the front page.
